Ramona or Muffi ?????

Those of you who know me are split into two groups:

Those knowing me as Muffi; and then those who know me as Ramona.

The first namesake is attributed to my beautiful Grandmother Lorna Amelia Stucker who has been my guardian angel for 20yrs now ~ and it was her who nicknamed me Miss Muffet prior to my birth...and there on "Muffi" stuck right thru to when i left my childhood home and moved onto my own life as an adult.....

Ramona of course is my christian name; which again was my grandmothers influence - after naming her firstborn Ramona; who incidently ended up as always been known as Aunt Mary to us all; so I was the second chance of having and keeping this name.

My grandmother had this name in mind from an very old movie she had seen in World War 2 era with her Beau at the time - my very handsome grandfather Everett Stucker - an American navy man based in Fremantle WA at the time of the War!

It fascinates me of that time - how things were for them both and nanna braving the seas Jouneying to America as an War Bride on an American War Ship at the end of the war!!
The possibilites of what life could have been for us had she decided America could be her new home; instead pining for her homeland so much she fell incredibly ill and returning just a few short years later back to the southwest of Western Australia!

There is that saying "being heartsick";
its amazing how that can be just as bad an infliction as any other illness possible!!!

Now Back to Ramona: The movie was about an "Half breed Indian" named Ramona ; and incidently based on a book titled "Ramona" by Helen Hunt Jackson!!!
I'm still deciding if it's worth the risk of purchasing an 1914 edition of this book through Amazon.com???

Despite as much history and family connections to this name; however in my young days - if I ever heard it I would duck for cover as I knew all things were not well with my world!!!

Funny how it still catches my breath if a family member ever utters it......

Now after living the early years of "Nice Muffi ~Nasty Ramona" - which is what my birth mother used to label me with....
I actually live the two paradigms of Sensible Ramona ~ Willfull Muffi!!!!

Perhaps its reliving my childhood in a much better way where the carefree, creative side of my nature sources from now- where as Ramona is being ever mature, wise, and cautious meaning I sit back weigh things out in my mind before acting on anything.... so yes procrastination is my friend for the most part- the consquences of wrong decisions earlier in life have strengthened that sense just too well!!!

But it this part of my personality and identity that took me forth into my professional world as a Registered Nurse; then ultimatley -finally my dream job as Community Nurse Consultant CNC3B; working in a health centre which was a sole nursing post, in the Homelands of Yunipingu and Gurriwiwi families of Gunyangara (SKi Beach) in Remote East Arnhem Land.

Perhaps you know of Mandawuy Yunupingu and his world famous band Yothu Yindi???
Or Djalu Gurriwiwi - Master Yidaki Player and teacher to students worldwide of the amazing craft of playing the Yidaki!!

This paradise was where I found my first true belonging to anywhere in this world; and as immense good luck would have it - was where I met my wonderful husband Denis; of which November 2010 brings about an incredible anniversary of 15 years that Ive been blessed to be by his side...and his wife for ten years now.

The picture you see of Twin Eagles is where we got married; actually requiring the blessings of the Yolngu families as this area is one of their many sacred sites...

And of course an excuse to have an Helicopter as the bridal transport :P
You only have to see the image to just know how sacred that place really is!!!

And through our many varied journeys together now; we find ourselves in the exact polar opposite of Australia- being Tasmania - and for now Launceston; albeit temporarily....

The search is on for our own Aussie dream of abit of land, trees, creek and the whole 9 yards!!!

Though "Polar" is being the keyword here!!!

It's My first winter in 16 years; and I'm still In awe of the most amazing autumn we 've just expereinced; watching all the leaves of Silver Birch, Yellow Ash, Poplar and the whole gamut of Maple trees just to name a few; all changing their amazing colours and leaves dropping to the ground creating mass mutlicoloured carpets.

I'm now awaiting with baited breathe the flowering of Daffodils, Iris's, Rannuculars and the like to pop their heads out and brighten my gardens here at a little cottage weve decided to call home for the next short passage of time.....

And finally of course exploring this countryside just to discover a piece of land that has been waiting for us to finally call home.....
